This post.
Short and bittersweet.
I don’t have much to say that’s not said by this moving piece. If posting about this here can give this video a little more exposure than it would have gotten otherwise, I’ll feel pretty good about that.

This episode of Mostly Human, titled “Silicon Valley’s Secret” is about depression — particularly in, and as fueled by, startup culture. While the episode is focused on Silicon Valley, depression in startups happens everywhere. In fact, it’s a little disappointing that the “Silicon Valley” scope is so narrow. I’d hate for anyone to come away with the feeling that this is a problem exclusive to Silicon Valley folks and entrepreneurs who take VC money.
I take solace in the fact that the video opens with an interview with someone who’s actually not in Silicon Valley, but Seattle (do people really call it “Silicon Canal“?).
Aside from what I think is an incredibly important topic, the piece also features a few of wonderful people whom I follow: Jerry Colona and Rand Fiskin. You could watch it for that reason alone. 😉
I know it’s hard enough for any of us to find a free minute in this industry, but watching this video was certainly worth 23 of mine. Best investment I’ve made this month.
